Eileen Gray underscored the character of her endearing parior lion with sly irony; she named it after the Michelin man, whose form this armchair calls to mind.

Eileen Gray

Eileen Gray’s achievement in design and architecture is considered pioneering work of Modernism. During her lifetime, she was honoured by the London Royal Society for Arts with the title Royal Designer for Industry, and she is one of few women mentioned in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer.
