Bonaparte is one of the seldom cases in which the luxurious comfort of an upholstered chair has been successfully united with a tubulär steel construction. The result communicates both ease and convenience. Actually conceived as a piece for drawing rooms, Eileen Gray found Bonaparte so pleasant that she used it for decades as her desk chair in her Paris home at Rue Bonaparte. With a seating height just bit lower than a chair, the Bonaparte lounge chair can also be used at tables to enjoy a long breakfast or to sit and write.

Designer
Eileen Gray’s achievement in design and architecture is considered pioneering work of Modernism. During her lifetime, she was honoured by the London Royal Society for Arts with the title Royal Designer for Industry, and she is one of few women mentioned in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. ClassiCon produces her iconic furniture designs as the sole and rightful licensee worldwide, in coordination with Aram Designs Ltd., London.
