The curved line of the Roattino standing lamp looks as though a snake charmer had made the cable rise and the lamp head bend. An S-shaped bent steel tube guides the cable and rests on a black-lacquered base. Individual, non-conforming and with a tad of humour, this is a design typical for Eileen Gray. A simple asymmetrical fabric shade dims the light and makes Roattino an especially pleasant reading lamp.
Floor Lamp - S-shaped tubular steel, black lacquered. A pivot enables various positions of the lampshade. Lamp stand steel, black lacquered. Lamp shade fabric in white, plasticised inside (hardly inflammable according to B1). Foot switch. Felt gliders in grey.

Eileen Gray’s achievement in design and architecture is considered pioneering work of Modernism. During her lifetime, she was honoured by the London Royal Society for Arts with the title Royal Designer for Industry, and she is one of few women mentioned in the same breath as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer.
